02 December 2009

So, my company from a couple nights ago at the Alley Cat Coffee House said I just *have* to write this one on my blog...

So, here it is. It's an ode to the evening spent among new acquaintances despite having a whole bunch of work to do before graduating very soon.

I normally don't have a title for poems,
but I think I'll call this one (it's littered with inside jokes from the evening...):

...You had to be there.
New company's voice all achatter-

And meeting three never met before
Despite sage advice, I'll sit for more.

We've in the corner rung out versus,
Songs and lines which did dearly serve us.

Our audience a cute collection
Of academics in reflection.

Some give us smiles while others scoff,
But the grumpy, they soon bugger off.

For this new group I'm now enchanted,
Despite from which I'm now distracted.

But of all accounts I'll remember
Less the typing on a computer-

And more the pinching of tempurpedic
After which giggles so ecstatic.

So despite panic soon approaching,
I'll not regret this night spent loving-

This group of strangers, charming, jolly
Dong! to meet them, despite the folly.
